Start By:a. remove oil pan *b. remove vibration damperc. remove fan and adapter*This operation can be found in Service Manual SENR1013, Disassembly & Assembly For 3408E & 3412E Engines.
Typical Example1. Install Tooling (A) on the bottom of the cylinder block as shown.
Typical Example2. Place Tooling (B) in position under Tooling (A) as shown.
Typical Example3. Remove bolts (1). Remove adapter (2) from the crankshaft.
Typical Example4. Remove bolts (3) that secure the engine front support to the support assembly. Use Tooling (B) to raise the front of the engine approximately 12.7 mm (.50 in).
Typical Example5. Install Tooling (C) in Tooling (B). Place the weight of the front of the engine on Tooling (C).
Typical Example6. Remove bolts (4). Remove engine front support (5).Install Engine Front Support
1. Put engine front support (5) in position on the trunnion. Install bolts (4) that secure the support. 2. Lift the front of the engine with Tooling (B) until Tool (C) can be removed. Lower the front of the engine with Tooling (B) until the front support is in position on the support assembly. Install bolts (3) and the nuts that secure the front support to the support assembly. Tighten the bolts and nuts to a torque of 435 20 N m (320 15 lb ft). 3. Use bolts (1) and install adapter (2) on the end of the crankshaft. 4.
