(80) 281-5975 Elbow As
Install elbow assembly (80) into the electronic fuel priming pump. Connect tube assembly (47) to the electronic fuel priming pump on the fuel filter base.Note: The check valve assembly shown next to the elbow assembly will need to temporarily removed to allow for installation.
Connect hose assembly (48) to the adapter assembly on the fuel transfer pump.
Install elbow assembly (74) to the hose assembly.
Connect the elbow assembly to tube assembly (47) with o-ring seal (72).
Connect hose assembly (70) to the lower port on the inside of the HPFP block.
Install union assembly (73) to the high-pressure rail fuel line.
Connect tube assembly (71) with o-ring seal (73) to the union assembly. Connect the other end of the tube assembly to hose assembly (70).
Install the tube clamp assemblies and mounting hardware using the configuration show in Illustration 12.
Install plates (79) using two bolts (75) with two hard washers (76).
Attach 16 clamp assemblies (77) around the tube assemblies. Attach the clamp assemblies to the plates using two bolts (78) with two hard washers (76).
Follow the tighten sequence listed in Step 6.

(81) Previous high-pressure fuel rail tube assembly
Remove the previous tube assembly (81) and replace it with tube assembly (46).

Remove the previous left side 438-8235 Engine Harness As from the engine. Install engine harness assembly (82) using the previous mounting hardware.

Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly manual for the procedure to access the gears on the HPFP drive. Torque the bolts to 100 5 N m (74 4 lb ft).Fuel Line Block Diagrams
Use the diagrams below to remove fuel lines leading to the engine and install lines where needed.

Remove the recirculating block and the lines that are marked above in Illustration 17.

Use Illustration 18 to configure the fuel lines as needed to the engine.Post Installation Procedure

(1) 520-0140 Hose As
Remove hose assembly (1) from the fuel filter base.
Place a suitable container that can hold at least 19 L (5 US gal) under the hose that was removed in the previous step.
Run an 8 minute priming cycle with the fuel running in to the container. Reconnect the hose after the priming cycle is completed.
Replace both the primary and secondary fuel filters.
Run a priming cycle to prime the system after the filter change and check for leaks in the low-pressure circuit.

(2) Cap
Remove the cap from the location shown in Illustration 20. Run the engine at low idle and check for leaks.Note: There might be residual fuel in the cap. There should not be a constant leakage of fuel.
Run the engine at low idle and conduct the "Fuel System Functional Test" in Cat® Electronic Technician (ET).
Paint the added components the color of the trailer.
