Description of Change: A new 168-5031 Grade and Slope Control is being used on current production machines. Software version 2.05 can be identified by looking at the display window when the system is powered up. The new software contains a filter that averages the signal from the slope sensor. This reduces the effects of fast inputs such as vibration or shock. The signal is input to the left side controller and the signal is filtered. The filter maintains a running average of the signal and the filter computes the new output signal. The filter is adjustable from 0.0 seconds OFF to 1.0 second full ON. For example, if the filter is set at 1.0 second, the output value of the filter will reach 63% of the actual input that is applied to the filter in 1.0 second. The normal setting for the filter is 0.0 seconds OFF. When the filter is set to 0.0 seconds OFF, the system should operate in the same manner as software version 2.01 or 2.02. Use a setting of 0.1 seconds to 0.5 seconds for extreme applications when the machine is making very tight turns and continually bumping the leveling arm.Note: Settings that are higher than 0.5 will increase the averaging and settings that are higher than 0.5 will reduce the response time of the slope.In addition, the new software will allow the 122-0094 Sensor to null at 45° (steady tone). This will increase the amount of movement for the wand sensor that is allowed in relation to the reference.Adaptable To: The new 168-5031 Grade and Slope Control is adaptable to older machines. This does not require the replacement of both of the control boxes if only one control box must be replaced. Installing the new control on the left side of the machine will now function with all features that are listed above. If the right side 122-0098 Grade and Slope Control failed with older software version 2.01 or 2.02 and a new 168-5031 Grade and Slope Control were installed on the right side of the machine, the following message will be displayed. "Control installed on right side of screed". This message in the display window would inform the operator that the control needs to be moved to the left side and the setup key needs to be pushed. If the left side 122-0098 Grade and Slope Control failed with older software version 2.01 or 2.02 and a new 168-5031 Grade and Slope Control were installed on the left side of the machine, the following message will be displayed. "Control installed on left side of screed". This message in the display window would inform the operator that the setup key needs to be pushed.
