Remove the ripper tilt cylinders. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Ripper Tilt Cylinder - Remove and Install" in this module.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Personal injury or death can result from lifting a heavy assembly.The heavy assembly can fall if using an incorrect hoist to lift the load.Be sure the hoist has the correct capacity to lift a heavy assembly. Approximate weight of the assembly is given below.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Mark all components for correct installation. When you disconnect the hoses, cap the connections in order to keep the system clean.

Remove two hydraulic hoses (3) from pin puller cylinder (2).
Remove two bolts (4) and bracket (1).

Attach tool (A) and a suitable lifting device to the ripper carriage. Note: The nylon strap (X) is used as an adjustable link for the lifting device.
Remove two bolts (6) and remove retainer (7) from each side of the carriage (5).
Remove pin (9) and remove shims (8) from each side of carriage (5). Note the position of shims (8) before removal for installation purposes.
Remove carriage (5) from the machine. Installation Procedure

Use a suitable lifting device and tool (A) to install the carriage on the machine.

Install shims (8) and install pin (9) on each side of carriage (5).
Install retainer (7) and two bolts (6) on each side of the carriage.

Install bracket (1) and install two bolts (4).
Install two hydraulic hoses (3) on pin puller cylinder (2). End By:
