Information:

start by:a) remove crankshaft pulleyb) remove alternatorc) remove oil pan 1. Disconnect wires (1) from the air conditioner compressor.2. Remove bolt (3), the washer and spacer from the belt adjuster. Remove two bolts (2) and move the air conditioner compressor clear of the timing gear cover. 3. Disconnect wire (4) from the temperature switch and remove the clip that holds the wire harness to the timing gear cover.4. Disconnect water temperature thermocouple (6) from the timing gear cover.5. Disconnect heater hoses (5) and (9) from the timing gear cover.6. Remove alternator bracket (7).7. Remove tachometer drive housing (8) from the timing gear cover.8. Close the fuel shutoff valve on the back side of the water separator fastened to the hydraulic tank. 9. Remove bolt (10) and the clamp from the fuel lines. Disconnect fuel lines (11) from the fuel filter base. Remove the fuel filter base and bracket as a unit from the timing gear cover.10. Remove clamp (12) from the water sleeve in each cylinder head. 11. Remove panel (13). 12. Use tool (A) and a screwdriver to push water sleeves (14) into the timing gear cover. 13. Remove bolts (15) and spacers from the engine front support. 14. Remove suction tube (16) from the oil pump.15. Remove only the 1/2 in. bolts from the guard below the pump drive and turn the guard out of the way. 16. Loosen bolts (17) that hold the pump drive to the frame. 17. Remove water connector (18) and water elbow (19) from the timing gear cover.18. Fasten tooling (B) and a hoist to the timing gear cover. Lift the front of the engine just enough to install tooling (C) under the cylinder block. Lower the engine on to tooling (C) so the tooling holds the weight of the engine not engine support (20). Remove engine support (20) from the timing gear cover.19. Put identification on the bolts that hold the timing gear cover to the cylinder block so they will be installed in the correct location. Remove the bolts from the timing gear cover.
Be extra careful not to damage the crankshaft front seal during removal and installation of the timing gear cover.
20. Remove timing gear cover (21) and the oil pump from the dowels on the cylinder block. The weight of the timing gear cover and oil pump is 62 kg (136 lb.).Install Timing Gear Cover And Oil Pump
1. Clean the contact surfaces of the cylinder block and timing gear cover. Install the timing gear cover gasket on the cylinder block. Cut the gasket even with the bottom face of the cylinder block. Put 5H2471 Gasket Cement on the bottom of the gasket where the gasket makes contact with the gasket for the oil pan. Make sure the water sleeves are installed in the timing gear cover. Put oil on the seals. 2. Fasten tooling (B) and a hoist to the timing gear cover and put the timing gear cover in position on the engine. Make sure seal (1)
