438C (1JR, 1TR, 2DR, 9KN) Backhoe LoadersThe 113-5315 Indicator Assembly monitors the temperature of the torque converter for the C-Series Backhoe Loaders. Temperature readings do not appear the same as the B-Series Backhoe Loaders.
The 113-5315 Indicator Assembly does not seem to move from the end of the scale as readily as the temperature indicator for the B-Series Backhoe Loaders. The reasons for difference follow:
1. The Scale for the gauge has been condensed. The 113-5315 Indicator Assembly begins to react at 82°C (180°F).2. The C-Series Backhoe Loader uses an air to oil transmission cooler which has greater cooling capacity. Since the B-Series Backhoe Loader used engine coolant to cool the transmission oil, the lowest transmission oil temperature could get was the setting of the engine thermostat. For example, an 82°C (180°F) thermostat for engine coolant results in a minimum 82°C (180°F) transmission oil temperature.3. A high load factor application, for example, converter stall, or days with a high ambient temperature will cause the 113-5315 Indicator Assembly to read in the high Range.
