When the electronic service tool does not communicate with the Cat Telematics system, use the following diagnostic steps in order to determine the fault.Note: Always use the latest version of CAT ET .
Connect the 317-7484 Communication Adapter Gp to the equipment and open CAT ET.
If CAT ET will not detect any ECMs on the data link, refer to the appropriate service manual and symptom for the equipment that the Product Link system is connected to.
If CAT ET detects some ECMs on the data link, but not the PLE601 Network Manager system, proceed to Step 2.
Using a voltmeter, check for system voltage on the Network Manager at pin 67 battery negative and pin 70 switched power.
If there is system voltage and a good ground going to the Network Manager, proceed to Step 4.
If there is no power or ground to the Network Manager, proceed to Step 3.
Inspect the wiring from the equipment to the Network Manager. Use the following information to help inspect and diagnose a potential wiring issue:
Systems Operation, Troubleshooting, Testing and Adjusting, UENR3697, "Wiring Harness (Short Circuit) - Test"
Systems Operation, Troubleshooting, Testing and Adjusting, UENR3697, "Wiring Harness (Open Circuit) - Test"
Schematic, UENR4046, "PLE601 Retrofit Harness"
Wiring has a problem. Repair wiring and return the equipment to service.
Wiring is ok. Proceed to Step 7.
Check the Cat Datalink and CAN Datalink wiring between the equipment and the Network Manager. Refer to Schematic, UENR4046, "PLE601 Retrofit Harness".
Wiring has a problem. Repair wiring and return the equipment to service.
Wiring is ok. Proceed to Step 5.
Connect the 425-6889 Cable As to the service port of the Network Manager and your laptop. Refer to the "Service Dashboard" in this manual.
If the "Service Dashboard" opens, proceed to Step 7.
If the "Service Dashboard" does not open, proceed to Step 6.
Replace the Network Manager. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS7339, "ECM - Replace". Perform the "Communication Check".
If the "Communication Check" is successful, return the equipment to service.
If the "Communication Check" is not successful, proceed to Step 7.
Download the "Service Dashboard Data" and "System Watch" from the "Service Dashboard". Refer to Systems Operation Troubleshooting Testing and Adjusting, UENR3697, "Service Dashboard". Submit this information along with other necessary information to the DSN..
