During assembly, the top of cylinder block must be free of fuel, oil, water, gasket adhesives, assembly compounds, and any other contaminants.
1 1 355-7181 Stud Torque to 25 3 N m (221 27 lb in).
2 12 197-9322 Cylinder Block Liner Lubricate the inside diameter of the cylinder liner thoroughly with clean engine oil.
3 2 225-3100 Spacer Plate During assembly, the bottom of spacer plates must be free of fuel, oil, water, gasket adhesives, assembly compounds, and any other contaminants.
Thickness is 8.585 0.025 mm (0.3380 0.0010 inch).
4 2 225-3101 Plate Gasket During assembly, both sides of plate gasket must be free of fuel, oil, water, gasket adhesives, assembly compounds and any other contaminants.
Thickness is 0.208 0.025 mm (0.0082 0.0010 inch).
5 4 4N-1650 Dowel After installation extension (B) is 18.5 0.5 mm (0.73 0.02 inch).
6 3 7C-9614 Taperlock Plug Lubricate the threads of the taperlock plug with White Loctite low break loose PST.
Torque to 80 15 N m (59 11 lb ft).
C - - Dimension from centerline of crankshaft bearing bore to the top of the block is 419.10 mm (16.500 inch).
D - - Dimension from centerline of crankshaft bearing bore to bottom of block (pan rails) is 165.10 mm (6.500 inch).
E - - Width of the main bearing cap is 215.9 mm (8.50 inch).
Width of cylinder block for the main bearing cap is 215.900 0.013 mm (8.5000 0.0005inch).
F - - Bore in the cylinder block for the main bearing is 129.891 0.013 mm (5.1138 0.0005inch).
7 14 3P-1323 Bearing Cap Bolt Use the following procedure in order to tighten the bearing cap bolts:
1. Tighten the tab end bolts to 258 14 N m (190 10 lb ft).
2. Tighten the opposite end bolts to 258 14 N m (190 10 lb ft).
3. Again, tighten the opposite end bolts to an angle turn of 120 5 degrees.
4. Again, tighten the tab end bolts to an angle turn of 120 5 degrees.
8 1 3B-0645 Cup Plug Apply high strength, high temperature Anaerobic Flange Sealant to the threads of the cup plug.
Installation depth is 1.25 0.25 mm (0.049 0.010 inch).
9 2 3S-6605 Cup Plug Installation depth is 1.25 0.25 mm (0.049 0.010 inch).
