Information:

1. Remove bolts (2) and guard (1) from each side of the front idler.2. Remove four bolts (3), spacers (6), shims and plates (5) from each side of the front idler. Remove the two strips (4) from each side of the front idler. Put identification on the shims for correct installation. 3. Remove two bolts (8) from each side of the front idler.4. Fasten a hoist to the front idler. Remove two bolts (7) from each side of the front idler.5. Move the front idler forward until the collars of the front idler are free from the track roller frame. 6. Fasten a hoist and remove front idler (9). Weight of the front idler is 169 kg (375 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the front idler.7. Fasten a hoist to the front idler (9). Put the front idler in position on the track roller frame.8. Install four bolts (8).9. Install bolts (7) on each side of the front idler. The shims are to give a clearance of 0.76 to 1.91 mm (.030 to .076 in.) between the yoke and plate (4). Tighten bolts (2). 10. Put shims (10) and plate (5) in position on both sides of the front idlers. Shims (10) are to keep dimension (B) a distance of 0.76 0.51 m (.030 .020 in.).11. Start By:a. remove front idlers 1. The front idlers can be put from a "HIGH" to "LOW" position or a "LOW" to "HIGH" position as follows:a. Remove bolts (1) on both sides of the front idler. Lift collars (2) on both sides of the front idler until bearings (3) can be turned.b. Turn the bearings and shaft 180° until the lower area of the bearings are toward the rear of the machine. c. Fasten a hoist to the front idler. Turn the front idler 180° in the direction shown. The front idler will be in the "HIGH" position. The bearing that was on the right side of the front idler will be on the left side and the lower area of the bearing will be toward the front of the machine.d. Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants put into the system may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
1. Drain the oil from the front idler. After the oil is removed, install the drain plug to keep dirt out of the front idler. 2. Remove bolt (3), collar (1) and the shims from bearing (2). 3. Remove bolt (4). 4. Using a hammer and a punch, remove the lock that holds the bearing in position on the shaft.5. Remove bearing (2). If bearing (2) can not be removed from the front idler by hand, use tooling (A) to remove
