Installation Of 1N4440 Fuel Heater Group
(1) Remove the fuel filter and the fuel filter base from the injection pump housing. (2) Use a new 6N2843 Gasket, two 9F6580 Bolts and two of the former bolts to install 1P1420 Housing (1) on the pump housing.(3) Remove disc (2) and fuel return elbow (3) from the original filter base. Use a new 4N9337 Gasket and the original bolts to install disc (2) and elbow (3) on 1P1420 Housing (1). Use the former elbow in port (A).(4) Install a 307947 Elbow with a 3J1907 O-ring Seal in port (B). (5) Install the new 8N9747 Fuel Filter Base (4) in a location that will give good access to the fuel filter. Do not install the filter base in an area of extreme heat or vibration. Put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the threads of stud (5) [approximately .3" (7.5) from the end].(6) Put 8N2301 O-ring Seal (6) in groove (C) of 8N9455 Fuel Heater (7). Install heater (7) over stud (5) [O-ring (6) next to base (4)], then install 8N2100 Connector (8) on stud (5) to hold heater (7) in position. Turn heater (7) so there will be good access for connection of coolant hoses to connections (9), and for connection of fuel lines to the filter base. Be sure O-ring seal (6) fits correctly in the groove, especially in the area of the bypass valve (small circle).(7) Tighten connector (8) until it comes in contact with heater (7), then tighten it an additional 3/4 turn.(8) Install the fuel filter on connector (8). Use the normal procedure to install the fuel filter. (9) Use a 1D4539 Bolt and a 1B2714 Bolt to install 8N9584 Adapter (10), 1P436 Gaskets (11) and 6N4414 Cover (12) on filter base (4). Use a 2M9780 O-ring Seal to install 8N9707 Fuel Temperature Regulator (13) in adapter (10).(10) Use a 3V6839 Elbow (hose), 8S1879 Elbow (hose) and a 6P8855 Spacer with 5D1026 Hose Clamps to connect port (D) of the fuel heater to port (E) of fuel temperature regulator (13).(11) See the Parts Book to find the locations on the engine that are used to connect coolant supply and return hoses for a cab heater. Remove the plugs at these locations and install an 8F8151 Shut Off Cock in each port. If the machine has a cab heater, disconnect the heater hoses and remove the fittings at the engine connections. Install a tee connection at each location, then install the original heater hose fittings in the tee and connect the heater hoses. Install an 8F8151 Shut Off Cock in the open port of each tee.(12) Use 5P767 Hose and 5D1026 Hose Clamps to connect the shutoff cocks in the coolant supply and return lines to port (F) of fuel temperature regulator (13), and to connection (G) on fuel heater (7). Hose connections must be made so coolant flow for the fuel heater will be parallel to the coolant flow of the cab heater.(13) At installation of coolant hoses for
