Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin. At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Accumulated grease and oil on a machine is a fire hazard. Remove this debris with steam cleaning or high pressure water, at least every 1000 hours or each time any significant quantity of oil is spilled on a machine.
Note: Watch closely for leaks. If you observe a leak, find the source of the leak and correct the leak. If you suspect a leak or you observe a leak, check the fluid levels more frequently.

Inspect the engine air precleaner (6) for dirt buildup. Remove dirt from the precleaner screen. Make sure that the air filter service indicator is not in the red zone.
Inspect the hitch components (5) for cracks, for worn hitch pins, and for damaged stops. Make any necessary repairs.
Inspect the steering linkage (4) for cracks. Check for steering components that are worn or damaged
Inspect the draft frame gooseneck (2) for cracks, for damage, and for distortion.
Inspect the draft arms (14) and the cross-tube for cracks or for damage.
Inspect the bowl and the ejector (1) for damage and for distortion.
Inspect the engine compartment (8) for debris. Inspect the radiator for debris. Remove debris from the radiator and from the engine. Check the oil level for the engine. Check the fluid level of the radiator. Check the cooling system for leaks.

Inspect the oil level of the hydraulic tank (11) .
Inspect the cutting edge (15) for damage.

Inspect the final drives (13) for leaks. Inspect the inside areas of the wheels for leaks. Make any necessary repairs.
Inspect the tires (12) for any damage and for proper inflation. Replace any missing valve caps.
Inspect the steps, the walkways, and the handholds (10). Clean the steps, the walkways, and the handholds. Make any necessary repairs. Inspect the Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) for damage. If repair is necessary, consult your Caterpillar Dealer. Tighten any loose ROPS bolts.
Inspect the operator compartment (7) for trash buildup. Check for trash buildup under the floorplate and on top of the crankcase guard. Keep these areas clean. Inspect the instrument panel for broken gauges and for broken indicators. Replace any broken lenses and any broken indicator lights. Adjust the mirrors for the correct rear view of the machine.
Inspect the windows in order to ensure that the operator's visibility is not impaired by dust, mud or other foreign materials. Clean the windows, if necessary. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Windows - Clean" for the proper
