Location of the hoist control position sensor
The hoist control position sensor is located on the left side of the operator's seat. The hoist control position sensor delivers a signal that has Pulse Width Modulation. The hoist control position sensor sends duty cycle signals to the Chassis Electronic Control Module (Chassis ECM).The four positions of the hoist lever are RAISE, HOLD, FLOAT, and LOWER. Since the position sensor provides a duty cycle signal that changes for all positions of the hoist lever, the operator can modulate the speed of the hoist cylinders.When the hoist control is used, the hoist control position sensor sends an electrical signal to the Chassis ECM. The Chassis ECM uses this signal in order to energize the appropriate proportioning solenoids. The proportioning solenoids are located on the control valves for the hoist system. These proportioning solenoids will move the spools in the control valves in the hoist system. This will cause oil to be sent to the hoist cylinders in order to move the dump body. The following two conditions determine if the solenoids will be energized:

Corresponding duty cycle in relation to the position of the sensorThe signal from the hoist control position sensor is also used to neutralize the transmission. The Chassis ECM will allow only a forward speed position or the NEUTRAL position when the hoist control position sensor is in the RAISE position. The Chassis ECM will not allow a shift to the REVERSE position until the hoist control position sensor has been moved from the RAISE position and the transmission shift lever is in the NEUTRAL position.Note: If the machine is in REVERSE and the hoist control position sensor is in the RAISE position the Chassis ECM will shift the transmission to NEUTRAL. The machine will remain in NEUTRAL until the hoist control is moved into the HOLD or the FLOAT position and the transmission control has been cycled through NEUTRAL.
