Introduction
The problem identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
The stop solenoid may develop an open circuit fault or a short circuit fault. The 176-6219 Solenoid Valve Gp is energized to run. If this solenoid develops a fault, the engine will stop or the engine will not start. The 206-1515 Solenoid As is energized to stop. If this solenoid develops a fault, the engine will not stop. The emergency stop button will not stop the engine. On applications equipped with the 206-1515 Solenoid As, a fault with the solenoid may be caused by the emergency stop button not being released within 30 seconds of activation.Solution
Emergency shutoff controls are for EMERGENCY use ONLY. DO NOT use emergency shutoff devices or controls for normal stopping procedure.

Typical example
Do not use the emergency stop button to stop the engine during normal operation. If the emergency stop button is required, perform the following steps:
If the emergency stop button is required, push emergency stop button (1).Note: If the engine will not stop, isolate the fuel supply to the engine. Do not operate the generator set until the fault has been rectified.
Turn the battery isolation switch to the OFF position.
Turn the emergency stop button clockwise to return the button to the normal position.
Perform Test Step 2 or Test Step 3 within 30 seconds of activating the emergency stop button to prevent damage to the stop solenoid. If the stop solenoid develops a fault, replace the solenoid.
