(2) Power Train ECMWith the key start switch in the ON position, 24 volt power is supplied from the batteries via circuit breaker 14 to Power Train ECM (2) .Ride control switch (1) is a three position switch with an AUTOMATIC position, SERVICE position, and OFF position. When ride control switch (1) is moved to the AUTOMATIC position, a ground circuit is supplied to Power Train ECM (2). The ride control system will operate when the ground speed exceeds 5 km/h (3 mph). The ride control system will automatically turn off if the ground speed is less than 5 km/h (3 mph).Note: The ride control system ground activation speed is factory set and can be adjusted using Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET).

(6) Ride control solenoidRide control indicator (3) will be on when the ride control system is operating. Transmission speed sensors (4) sends a signal to Power Train ECM (2). Power Train ECM (2) monitors the ground speed of the machine. When the required ground speed has been reached by the machine, the ride control system will activate. 24 volt power is supplied from Power Train ECM (2) to ride control solenoids (5), (6) and ride control indicator (3) .When ride control switch (1) is held in the SERVICE position, the ride control system will be activated regardless of ground speed. Ride control indicator (3) will illuminate and ride control solenoids (5) and (6) will be energized. Ride control switch (1) will return to the OFF position when released.ReferenceFor further information on the ride control system, refer to the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic System".
