(1) Belt tightener (2) Refrigerant Compressor (3) Alternator (4) Idler pulley
Remove idler pulley (4). Install the new 189-2207 Idler Pulley in the place of the old idler pulley.
Remove belt tightener (1). Install the new 220-1209 Belt Tensioner As in the place of the old belt tightener.
Inspect the other idler pulleys in order to make sure that idler pulleys will rotate freely. Ensure that the contact surface for the idler pulleys is clean.
Inspect the underside of the crankshaft pulley for a buildup of debris that could rub on the belt. Clean the debris, as needed.Note: The installation for the larger idler pulley may be difficult due to the stronger tightener. The new belt should be installed over the 189-2207 Idler Pulley last.
Install the new 253-4531 Serpentine Belt .
Visually check alignment of parts. Start the engine and make sure that the belt is in good alignment with all of the pulleys.
If the belt has damage along one edge of the belt, check for proper alignment of the components. Check for other parts that could interfere with the belt. Reposition components in order to avoid contact with the edge of belt. Check for damaged parts or for bent parts that could cause contact with the edge of the belt.
Ensure that the parts are properly matched. Rollers with the flat contact surface should operate on the flat contact surface of the belt. Grooved pulleys and grooved idlers should operate on the grooved side of the belt.
