Connect the steering frame lock.
Park the machine on a flat, level surface. Lower the bucket to the ground. Chock the wheels to prevent the machine from rolling when the drive shaft is removed.

Remove bolts (3) and straps (2) from center drive shaft (1). Position center drive shaft (1) out of the way. Remove bolts (4).

Remove bolt (5) and the retainer. Remove yoke (6).

Position Tooling (A) to support front drive shaft (7). Remove carrier bearing (8).

Remove lock wire (9) from carrier bearing (8).

Remove setscrew (10). Remove fitting (11).Installation Procedure
Install carrier bearing (8) in the reverse order of removal.

Apply Tooling (B) to front drive shaft (7) in the area marked (X) prior to installing carrier bearing (8).
After carrier bearing (8) has been installed onto front drive shaft (7), tighten setscrew (10) until setscrew (10) bottoms into the keyway. Back off setscrew (10) 1/2 turn. If carrier bearing (8) has a jam nut, tighten the jam nut to a torque of 24 4 N m (212 35 lb in).
Tighten bolt (5) to a torque of 65 10 N m (47 7 lb ft). Tighten bolt (5) an additional (120 +/- 10) degrees.
Apply Tooling (C) to the threads of bolts (3).
Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 170 13 N m (125 10 lb ft). Tighten bolts (3) in an X pattern.
