Note: Refer to manual, M0080743 for more information on the Ball Stud Breaker (524-5362) Hammer Group.Refer to the appropriate Disassembly and Assembly Manual for mounting and lifting hardware and correct location of the lifting point.Assembly Instructions
The HPU is shipped as a complete unit with everything attached except the hoses and remote control. Lock casters to prevent movement and inspect unit before assembling hoses & remote control to the HPU. Keep the end of the hoses that plug into the Hammer Group covered with hose covers to prevent risk of contamination until usage. Locate appropriate electrical power source that meets the HPU electrical configuration and do not power unit until after complete setup of the HPU and Hammer Group. Fill tank with appropriate hydraulic fluid to ensure maximum tool performance.Pump Groups:

Caterpillar Inc. recommends using one of these specific Hydraulic Power Units (HPU) with the Ball Stud Removal Tool. The following units have been optimized to provide the Maximum Breakout Force, provide safe work environment, & ensure hammer life expectancy well beyond the tool warranty period. Identify the appropriate HPU from the list below, which meets your location’s electrical requirements. If an additional voltage is needed, contact Dealer Service Tools.524-5342 (460V)524-5343 (230V)524-5344 (415V)524-5345 (380V)
The Ball Stud Removal Tool must not exceed specific pressure/flow values and strongly recommend contacting Dealer Service Tools before utilizing an HPU other than those listed above, before operating the tool.

Note: If using the 50 Hz Pump Group (524-5344 or 524-5345) with the (524-5362) Hammer Group, refer to the manual, M0083629.
Connect the inlet/outlet hoses to the hydraulic power unit (HPU) inputs/outputs using the quick disconnect connections. The inlet/outlet of the HPU has different-sized fittings to ensure that the tool is hooked up properly to ball stud removal tool properly.Note: When not in use cap hydraulic hoses/fittings to minimize contamination.
Ensure that the HPU is filled with oil before it is ever turned on. The new unit ships without any oil in the reservoir. Oil should come up about 3/4 of the way up the sight glass/temperature gage as shown in photo above. Add CAT HYDO 10 or ISO 46 hydraulic oil, as required.
Plug the HPU into suitable outlet.HPU Testing Pre-Ball Stud Removal:Once oil levels have been checked and hydraulic lines are secured between the HPU and Ball Stud Removal Tool, engage the hammer without any chisels, extensions, or adapters in the hammer. Monitor the gauges
