Remove the tires and rims (front).
Remove the bulldozer stabilizer.
Remove the front counterweights.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to fixed front axle (7). The weight of fixed front axle (7) is approximately 1200 kg (2646 lb).

Position Tooling (B) under bracket assembly (10). The weight of bracket assembly (10) is approximately 110 kg (243 lb). Remove two bolts (9) and four bolts (8). Use Tooling (B) to lower bracket assembly (10).

Remove bolts (11) and spacers (12). Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to lower fixed front axle (7) onto Tooling (C) (not shown). Remove fixed front axle (7).Installation Procedure
Install fixed front axle (7) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 1800 200 N.m (1328 148 lb ft).
Tighten bolts (9) to a torque of 1800 200 N.m (1328 148 lb ft).
