Events Related to Coasting in Neutral
The "Coasting in Neutral" event (E49) is utilized as an event to train the operator. Caterpillar has determined that allowing the machine to move (or roll) without a transmission gear engaged is not a favorable condition. Operation of the transmission in such a manner may lead to damage of the transmission. Damage may occur due to the drop in engine speed which results in a drop of oil pressure and lubrication oil flow to the transmission. Transmission damage may also occur due to excessive overspeeding of the internal components of the transmission. This event is used in order to inform the operator and the manager of the site of improper operation of the machine. Refer to "Managing Fault Codes in the "EquipmentManager"" in order to configure EquipmentManager. Use the "Add / Edit Reactions" dialog in order to configure which notifications are received. These configurations do not affect on board operation. A "Coasting in Neutral" event (E49) is logged in the transmission/chassis ECM if the machine is in motion with the transmission in neutral. On some of the machine models that are listed, a level 2S warning and a message is momentarily issued to the operator when the machine is being operated in this condition. Some machine models contain a strategy to elevate engine speed sufficiently in order to maintain adequate lubrication oil flow during a "Coasting in Neutral" condition.Managing Fault Codes in EquipmentManager
EquipmentManager has features that help manage the flow of information regarding fault codes."Transmission Registry"
The "Transmission Registry" will display the schedule by which fault codes are sent from the machine and made available for display in EquipmentManager. Illustration 1 shows a typical screen for the "Transmission Registry".

From the "Transmission Registry" screen, select the check box next to a piece of equipment and click "Configuration". The "Over the Air Configuration" screen will appear. On this screen, you can edit the parameters of the transmission in order to transmit codes according to your needs.Table 1 describes the parameters of the "Transmission Registry".
