When reporting the repair, use "PS41478"as the Part number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered beforefailure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" asthe SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as theWarranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. The information supplied in this serviceletter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Donot perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the terminationdate without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

Loctite needs to be added to the sprocket boltson certain 315C L Excavators. On all listed machines, Loctite was not addedon final drive sprocket bolts during assembly. These bolts can loosen,and then fail, causing the machine to stop.AFFECTED PRODUCT

Handle the parts in accordance with your WarrantyBulletin on warranty parts handling.Rework Procedure
***** Group 1 *****
Release track group tension.
Loosen the existing bolts.
Take the new 7X2553 Bolts (M16).
Add Loctite 242 (red) on the threads.
Tighten each new bolt to 270 +/- 40 N.m (dynamictorque).
Please do this on the left and right sprockets(See Illustration 1).

Release the track group tension.
Loosen the existing bolts.
Take the new bolts 7X2562 (M20).
Add Loctite 242 (red) on the threads.
Tighten each new bolt to 530 +/- 70 N.m (dynamictorque).
Please do this on the left and right sprockets(see Illustration 1).

Release track group tension.
Loosening the existing bolts.
Take the new bolts 7X2563 (M20).
Add Loctite 242 (red) on the threads.
Tighten the bolts to 530 +/- 70 N.m (dynamic torque).
Please do this on the left and right sprockets(see Illustration 1).
