Removal Procedure
Personal injury or death can result from grease under pressure.Grease coming out of the relief valve under pressure can penetrate the body causing injury or death.Do not watch the relief valve to see if grease is escaping. Watch the track or track adjustment cylinder to see if the track is being loosened.Loosen the relief valve one turn only.If track does not loosen, close the relief valve and contact your Caterpillar dealer.

Elevate the machine by using the boom, as shown above. Block the machine with support blocks at the indicated location. The track cannot be in contact with the ground.

Remove two bolts (1) and washers from the panel.
Remove panel (2) from the undercarriage frame.

Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7360, "Track Adjustment - Inspect/Adjust" when you are attempting to adjust the track.
Loosen grease fitting (3) carefully until the track begins to loosen. One turn should be the maximum. When the track tension is fully released, grease fitting (3) should be tightened. Tighten the grease fitting to a torque of 34 N m (25 lb ft).

Remove four bolts (4) and washers.
Remove track roller (5) from the undercarriage frame.
Repeat Steps 1 through 6 for the other four track rollers. Repeat Steps 1 through 6 for the other side of the five track rollers.Installation Procedure

Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to four bolts (4) .
Position track roller (5) to the undercarriage frame.
Install washers and four bolts (4) to the track roller. Tighten the bolts.
Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for the other four track rollers.

Make sure that grease fitting (3) is properly tightened before attempting to adjust the track. Tighten the grease fitting to a torque of 34 N m (25 lb ft). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7360, "Track Adjustment - Inspect/Adjust" when you are attempting to adjust the track.

Place panel (2) to the undercarriage frame.
Install washers and two bolts (1). Tighten the bolts.

Raise the machine with the boom and remove the blocks.
Lower the machine to the ground with the boom.
Repeat Steps 1 through 9 for the other side of the five track rollers.
