Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Attach a suitable lifting device to transmission oil cooler (12). The weight of transmission oil cooler (12) is approximately 37 kg (82 lb).
Remove the two bolts, the washers, and spacer (7). Remove bolts (4). Remove coupling (3) and the O-ring seals with transmission oil cooler (12).
Remove coupling (3) and the O-ring seals. Remove two bolts (2) and the washers. Remove four bolts (5) and the washers. Remove elbow (1) and gasket (6) from oil cooler core (13).
Remove six bolts (11). Remove bracket (8). Remove transmission oil cooler bonnet (10) and gasket (9) from oil cooler core (13).
If necessary, clean the tubes of the oil cooler core with a 3.81 mm (0.150 inch) diameter rod that is approximately 457 mm (18.0 inch) long. Care must be taken in order to ensure that the bundle is cleaned properly. Damage may occur if tubes are not cleaned properly. Installation Procedure

Install gasket (9) and transmission oil cooler bonnet (10) on oil cooler core (13). Install four washers and bolts (11). Tighten four bolts (11) to a torque of 105 20 N m (77 15 lb ft).
Position bracket (8) and install two washers and bolts (11). Tighten two bolts (11) to a torque of 105 20 N m (77 15 lb ft). Loosen bolts (11) and torque bolts (11) again.
Position gasket (6) and elbow (1) on oil cooler core (13). Install four washers and bolts (5). Install two washers and bolts (2). Tighten bolts (5) and (2) to a torque of 105 20 N m (77 15 lb ft).
Apply Tooling (A) to the O-ring seal. Install the O-ring seals on coupling (3). Install coupling (3) into transmission oil cooler (12).
Attach a suitable lifting device to transmission oil cooler (12). The weight of transmission oil cooler (12) is approximately 37 kg (82 lb).
Position transmission oil cooler (12) with coupling (3) into the cylinder block and the engine oil cooler. Install the washers and bolts (4). Tighten the four bolts (4) to a torque of 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft). The two bolts (4) that attach to the bracket tighten to a torque of 55
