Remove the centrifugal oil filter.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.Spring force will be released when covers are removed.Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.
Loosen clamp (10) and nut (1). Remove cover (6) from body (12).
Remove O-ring seal (9) from the body.
Use Tooling (A) to hold the rotor assembly and remove nut (2).
Remove the rotor assembly from spindle (7).
Use Tooling (B) to remove rotor cover (4) from base (13). Remove O-ring seal (11) from the base. Remove paper liner (5) from the rotor cover. Properly dispose of the paper liner.
Remove stand tube (8) from base (13).
Remove spindle (7) from body (12).
Remove plug (14), the gasket, spring (16), and shuttle (17) from body (12).
Use Tooling (C) to measure the clearances between the bearings and spindle (7). The maximum clearance between bearing (3) and spindle (7) is 0.25 mm (0.010 inch).The maximum clearance between bearing (15) and spindle (7) is 0.20 mm (0.008 inch).
