Start By:a. Remove the rear axle housing and differential. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rear Axle Housing and Differential - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.b. Remove the axle shafts. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Shaft - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced. 1. Place the rear axle housing and differential assembly on a suitable stand. Remove four bolts (1), the washers, cover (2) and the shims from the rear axle housing. 2. Install a 3/8 - 16 NC bolt and pull thrust pin (3) from the rear axle housing. Remove the O-ring seal from thrust pin (3). 3. Disconnect four hose assemblies (4). 4. Disconnect four hose assemblies (5). 5. Remove two bolts (7), the washers, slack adjuster (6) and the hoses.6. Remove two bolts (8), the washers, manifold block (9), clamp assembly (10), bracket (11) and the hoses. 7. Replace two bolts (12) and the washers with two M20 x 2.5 x 120 mm bolts. Remove the remaining 43 bolts (13), the washers and bracket (14).8. Remove yoke (15). 9. Install two M20 x 2.5 forcing bolts (17). Tighten two forcing bolts (17) to remove differential and bevel gear (16) enough to allow Tooling (A) to be installed. 10. Install Tooling (A) to differential and bevel gear (16). Attach a hoist and suitable lifting chains to Tooling (A). Remove two bolts (12) and the washers. Remove differential and bevel gear (16). The weight of differential and bevel gear (16) is 600 kg (1323 lb). 11. Remove O-ring seal (18) from differential and bevel gear (16).
