INDUSTRIAL ENGINE,
Information:
Storage Procedures for Commercial Engines
Caterpillar recommends an ongoing process of identification and monitoring of engines that are located at dealerships, customers, OEM's, and storage facilities of the dealers that may require storage and storage preservation. If long term storage of the engines is required, procedures and recommendations exist in order to prepare Caterpillar engines for storage up to one year. The engine should be stored in a controlled environment prior to delivery. The storage environment should not have extreme variations in temperature or humidity. The storage environment should prevent exposure to ultraviolet light. Proper storage procedures are required in order to maintain the service life of the product.Utilize the practices and procedures that are described in Special Instruction, SEHS9031, "Storage Procedure for Caterpillar Products" to ensure the optimum health and durability of the product.Verification of Procedures of Storage
Although verification of storage is not required in order to maintain the warranty, this does not eliminate the need for proper storage procedures. In the case of a claim for warranty, Caterpillar may require documentation which proves that the recommended storage procedures were followed. Engines that are damaged by faulty storage or preservation will not be considered to have a factory defect in material or workmanship.
