(1) Swages in the track linkThe new track link assembly features positive retention for the track pin. The positive pin retention mechanically locks the pin with the link in order to eliminate the drift of the track pin. Material from the link is pressed into a groove in the track pin at four locations (1) on the pin. Refer to Illustration 1. In order to service the link assembly, the track pin is pressed out of the link assembly by shearing the material in the groove.

(A) Tooling for the bolster (B) Tooling for the ramThe link is pressed onto the pin by using tooling for a swage joint in the track press during reassembly. The tooling for the swage joint penetrates the material into the groove. The tooling for swaging the track joints will require assembly. Refer to Table 1 for the additional tooling that must be assembled. Refer to Illustration 2 for the assembled tooling.
