Information:
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Position four segment assemblies (3). Apply Tooling (N) to bars (4). Use a suitable driver to install bars (4). Do not allow bars (4) to extend beyond the outer diameter of the idler.
Install remaining segment assemblies (3). Note: Dimension (X) should be equal between each of the segment assemblies.
Position two guides (2). Ensure that bars (4) are positioned between the bolt holes, as shown. Install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) hand tight.

Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (E) to idler assembly (5). The weight of idler assembly (5) is approximately 1250 kg (2756 lb).
Carefully position idler assembly (5) onto Tooling (D). Tooling (D) must contact idler assembly (5), as shown. Do not allow Tooling (D) to contact segment assemblies (3) or move beyond Area (X) .

Use Tooling (L) and Tooling (M) in order to tighten bolts (1) in the sequence that is shown above. Begin with bolt (1a) and continue in sequential order. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 2300 300 N m (1696 221 lb ft).Note: Applying the proper amount of torque to the bolts is critical. If excessive torque is exerted on the bolts the rubber will be pushed out. If insufficient torque is applied to the bolts, bolts may loosen during operation. Excessive segment assemblies shift and wear can result from improper segment assemblies seating.Note: Do not secure the idler by either the guides or the segment assemblies. The positioning of the guides and segment assemblies is critical to proper installation.
Then, tighten bolts (1a), (1b), and (1c) to a torque of 2300 300 N m (1696 221 lb ft).End By: Install the idler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Idler (Sound Suppression) - Install".
