Electrical shock can result in severe personal injury or death. Operation of the circuit breaker and service of the circuit breaker should only be performed by qualified personnel that are familiar with the circuit breaker and familiar with the switchgear.
Note: Follow the procedure below before carrying out any maintenance procedures.
Turn the circuit breaker to OFF.
Switch off the power to the circuit breaker, including the power circuit and auxiliary circuit.
Disconnect the circuit breaker from the installation. Remove the circuit breaker from the switchboard, if the version being used allows for removal.Carry out the following operations at least once a year in normal operating conditions. Otherwise perform the procedure every 6 months and also after tripping of the circuit breaker due to a short circuit.
Remove any dust or smoke marks using a clean dry rag.
Check the surfaces of the racking-out contacts on the plug-in/withdrawable versions.
Clean the contacts with LOCTITE® SF 7629 Nonflammable Electrical Contact Cleaner.
Lubricate the contacts with Mobiltemp SHC™ 32 or equivalent.
Perform a few opening, closing, and relay-tripped operations to check that the circuit breaker is working correctly before switching on the load.
Make sure that the connections and the unit mounting screws are tightened correctly.The breaker panel and cable run entry must remain in place to ensure protection against sand and/or dust ingress. Also the use one of the three boots listed below can reduce the chance of sand and/or dust ingress:
