The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
Machines equipped with product link PL241 do not report to VisionLink® when machine is operating.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, and recommending to follow the below interim repair solution.Repair Solution for 307 E2/308 E2 Machines and all other Machine Models
Turn OFF the disconnection switch for 2 minutes.
Turn On the disconnection switch, and start the machine.
Wait for at least 10 minutes, contact the Call center Tier 1 check if the data transmission starting. If yes go to Step 5, otherwise do all the following Steps.
Check with Cat Electronic Technician (ET).a. If connect with ET Failed, replace with a new PL241, configure product ID for the new radio. Contact with Call Center for data transmission.b. If connected with ET, follow procedures from Troubleshooting, UENR6983.
Configure the SMH for PL241, if the SMH is different with hour meter.Repair Procedure for 305.5 E2/306 E2 Machines
Turn OFF the disconnection switch.

Open the cover under seat, pull out the 12-pin connectors for PL241 for 2 minutes. Refer to Illustration 1.
Plug in the 12-pin connector.
Turn On the disconnection switch, and start the machine.
Wait for at least 10 minutes, contact with Call Center Tier 1 to check if the data transmission starting. If yes go to Step 7, otherwise, do all the following Steps.
Check with ET.a. If connect with ET Failed, replace with a new PL241, configure product ID for the new radio. Contact with Call Center for data transmission.b. If connected with ET, follow procedures from Troubleshooting, UENR6983.
Configure the SMH for PL241, if the SMH is different with hour meter.
