Install disc (6).
Install bolts (5). Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 120 20 N m (89 15 lb ft).

Use two people to position parking brake (3). The weight of parking brake (3) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb). Position parking brake (3) and install bolts (4). Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 300 40 N m (222 30 lb ft).

Remove cover (7).
Illustration 9 g06077849Note: Make sure that bolt (8) does not hit the mounting bracket.
Tighten adjusting screw (9) until the brake pads clamp tight against the disc.

Hold jam nuts (10) while tightening bolts (11). Tighten bolts (11) until bolts (11) come in contact with the polyurethane springs. The polyurethane springs can no longer be turned by hand. Once bolts (11) made contact with the polyurethane springs, turn bolts (11) an additional angle of 360 5 degrees. The length of the polyurethane springs should be 12.7 to 16.8 mm (0.50 to 0.66 in).

Use two people to remove parking brake (3). The weight of parking brake (3) is approximately 32 kg (71 lb). Once the preload is set, remove bolts (4) and parking brake (3).

Mount parking brake (3) and the bracket on a suitable bench. Use Tooling (C) to tighten jam nuts (10) against the mounting bracket to a torque of 610 N m (450 lb ft).

Use two people to position parking brake (3). The weight of parking brake (3) is approximately 32 kg (71 lb). Position parking brake (3) and install bolts (4). Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 300 40 N m (222 30 lb ft).

Use Tooling (A) to apply hydraulic pressure and release parking brake (3).

Turn adjusting screw (9) clockwise until the brake pads are no longer loose and the torque on adjusting screw (9) does not exceed 13.6 N m (120 lb in). Back off adjusting screw (9) 3 turns.
First adjust the brake pad closest to the axle using a 2.00 mm (0.079 in) feeler gauge and check the brake pad to disc clearance.

Adjust bolt (8) until bolt (8) comes in contact with mounting plate (13). Be sure that the 2.00 mm (0.079 in) feeler gauge is still in place. Tighten bolt (8) until the feeler gauge is slightly tight. Hold bolt (8) and tighten nut (12) to a torque of 44 4 N m (32.5 3 lb ft). Next, adjust the second brake pad by turning adjusting screw (9) until running clearance between the brake pads and disc is 2.00 0.10 mm (0.0794 0.004 in).

Release the pressure from Tooling (A) for the parking brake to apply. Use Tooling (A) to reapply the pressure. Check the clearance between the disc and the brake pads. The clearance should be between 2.00 0.10 mm (0.0794 0.004 in).
Remove Tooling (A). Install cover (7).

Install fitting (2) and connect hose assembly (1).End By:
Install the front drive shaft.
Cycle the park brake 50 times.
