Procedure To Replace The Cylinder Head Gasket
Thoroughly clean all surfaces that contact the cylinder head gasket.
Clean all cylinder head bolt holes in the cylinder block. Tap each hole with a bottom tap. This will ensure that the threads are clean and the hole is properly tapped. The thread size in the small holes is 3/8-16. The thread size in the large holes is 1/2-13.
Check the depth of each hole in the cylinder block for the cylinder head bolt. The minimum threaded depth of the 3/8-16 bolt holes is 17.0 mm (0.67 inch). The minimum threaded depth of the 1/2-13 bolt holes is 30.5 mm (1.20 inch). Tap the threads to the minimum specified depth if the holes are not deep enough.Note: Step 3 is not required for Machine Engines (S/N: 45V90764-UP).
Ensure that the reddish orange bead material is around the water passages. Install a new 7W-2059 Cylinder Head Gasket .
Install the cylinder head.
Do not put oil in the threaded holes of the cylinder block deck. Oil could cause a hydraulic lock when the head bolts are installed. This could result in damaged threads or a cracked cylinder block.
Lightly coat the cylinder head bolt threads and washer faces with 6V-4876 Lubricant prior to assembly. Install the cylinder head bolts in the correct locations. Refer to illustration 1 for the location of the cylinder head bolts and for the tightening sequence.

Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on bolt threads. Tighten the bolts according to the following procedure:

In a numerical sequence, loosen bolts 1 through 18 so the washers are free to rotate on the bolts.
In a numerical sequence, again tighten bolts 1 through 18.Torque for bolts ... 81 13 N m (60 10 lb ft)

Check the impeller clearance of the water pump impeller. The clearance should be 0.12 to 0.80 mm (0.005 to 0.032 inch). In order
