Description of Issue - The mounting hardware for the control handles have changed. Handles and kits that were made available in the past contained only a spring pin. The handles and kits that are now available use a 282-3735 Torx Head Screw or a spring pin. The affected part numbers are listed in Table 1.Resolution - The service replacement handle and service lever kits will include the new torx head screw.Follow the steps listed below in order to determine the type of operator control handle that is installed.

(1) Hole in Operator Control Handle Base (2) Adapter Shaft with Nut
Examine the hole (1) in the base of the operator control handle.
You must determine if the hole (1) in the base of the operator handle is the same size all the way through or if the hole (1) is two different sizes. Note: If the hole (1) is the same size all the way through, then a split pin must be used.Note: If the hole (1) is two different sizes, then a Torx screw must be used.Note: Do not attempt to use the Torx screw or the split pin in place of each other. Incorrect installation or damage to the control handle could result if the correct fastener is not used.

If the spring pin is the correct fastener to be removed, then use a punch and hammer in order to remove the spring pin. Refer to illustration 2.

(3) Operator Control Handle (4) 282-3735 Torx Head Screw
If a Torx screw is the correct fastener to be installed, then use a torque wrench in order to install the new 282-3735 Torx Head Screw (2). The torque should be 1.5 .2 N m (13.3 1.77 lb in). Refer to illustration 3.
