Installation Procedure
Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Apply 6V-1541 Quick Cure Primer to the dimension of 7.6 1.5 mm (0.30 0.06 inch) from the tapered end of hollow stud (9) . Install hollow stud (9) to fuel filter base (3) and tighten the hollow stud to a torque of 60 14 N m (44 10 lb ft) .

Install the O-ring seals to plugs (6) and (8) . Install plug (6) and (8) to fuel filter base (3) .
Install the O-ring seal to elbow (7) . Install elbow (7) to fuel filter base (3) .

Install gasket (5) to fuel filter base (3) .

Position fuel filter base (3) to the engine. Install two bolts (4) in order to secure the fuel filter base to the engine.

Apply a light coating of clean diesel fuel to the fittings on fuel line (2) . Position fuel line (2) to the engine. Connect the lower end of the fuel line to the engine.

Connect fuel line (2) to fuel filter base (3) .

Install a new filter (1) to the fuel filter base.
Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SEBU7028, "Operation and Maintenance Manual" for the proper installation procedure.
Close the engine hood.
