Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove service brakes. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Service Brake - Remove and Install".

Install a hoist and suitable lifting slings, as shown.
Remove bolts (1) from intermediate housing (2) .Note: Make an alignment mark on the bearing adjusting nut before you remove the intermediate housing. The bearing retainer and locating pin can separate from the intermediate housing when the housing is removed. Use of the alignment mark will allow you to restore bearing preload to the original position.
Remove intermediate housing (2) from axle center housing (3). Weight of the intermediate housing is approximately 65.8 kg (145 lb).Note: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Differential and Bevel Gear - Remove" for more information on the differential lock assembly.
