"Volume Mixer" dialog
To ensure that the operator realizes that the speaker is too low or is muted, the on-board software checks the operating system regularly. If the speaker is too low or is muted, the Speaker button appears. Double-click the Speaker button to open a mixer dialog similar to Illustration 49.
To unmute the speakers, click the red and blue speaker-mute icon and adjust the Device > Speakers volume to at least 50%.
To close the dialog with no change to the speaker volume, click the "Exit" button (top right-hand side). If at any stage while the on-board software is running the operator mutes the speakers, the Speaker button will appear. The Terrain mobile application kits do not include an external alarm. The software uses the laptop speaker for any audible signals. All Terrain alarms, such as the Delay buzzer or Avoidance buzzer, use the same default audible signal. There are two extra sound files provided in the TerrainMobile\CAES\data folder in case your site wishes to change the sound of the avoidance buzzer:
avoid_warning.wav
avoidance.wavIf required, use these files for the alarms created in the Avoidance Strategy for zones and surfaces, in the Detect Strategy for proximity, and for Avoidance, Speed, and Locked zones. Alternatively, add your own sound files (*.wav format) to this folder. To change the sound of the avoidance alarm on the portable PC, complete these steps:
Open the MCU.
Select the machine name in the left-hand pane.
Select Machine > Alarms > Set Up Avoidance Buzzers.Note: Use this setting for Terrain mobile applications on a portable PC. Do not use this setting on the G610 display module.
Send the new mach_cfg.txt file to the machine and restart the software. As the software starts, the buzzer test occurs. Refer to "Checking the Optional Alarm" earlier in this document to verify that the speaker is working.Checking the Optional Alarm
The portable PC speaker is normally an optional device, but is mandatory when using the following modules:
Command for hauling
Detect
Menu - Opens the main menuVerify the operation of the alarm using one of the following methods:Startup - At startup, listen for the alarm.Buzzer Test - Run the buzzer test at any time by opening the main menu and selecting "Diagnostics" > "Buzzer Test".Notify the office if either of the following conditions exist:
The alarm is connected, but no audible sound is heard.
The alarm volume is either too loud or too quiet.Clock Slows Rapidly
Users with ValueCAN or PCAN devices attached to their portable PCs may find that the clock of the PC slows down rapidly while Terrain on-board software is running. This slowdown results in the following:
The time shown on the laptop task bar is incorrect, sometimes by many minutes.
The time shown on Digital windows in the Terrain software is incorrect. However, the software uses the GPS time to correct the time in the Digital window approximately every minute. The Terrain mobile software does not support the use of ValueCAN or PCAN devices. There is no fix offered other than to remove the ValueCAN or PCAN device.Resizing Borders Around Windows
