PROBLEM
The existing aluminum radiators can cause rapid nitrite depletion in Extended Life Coolant on certain C18 Industrial Engines. If the nitrites are depleted, pitting can occur on the cylinder liners which can lead to failure.

ACTION REQUIRED
1. This letter only applies to engines equipped with aluminum radiators and using Extended Life Coolant. Copper radiators must not be dosed.
2. If the radiator has already been treated with the phosphate dosing, DO NOT apply this service letter.
3. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS7296, to determine the proper quantity to be used for dosing the system. DO NOT "over" dose the system.
