Use this procedure to install the 436-1478 Crankshaft Seal and 436-1479 Crankshaft Seal seals on the serial numbers listed above using the 484-7863 Tool As .Required Tools

Clean the following to remove the presence of fluid and debris.
Engine housing internal diameter bore surface
Crankshaft outer diameter surface and face
Inspect the 484-7863 Tool As to ensure that the seal installation tool is in good condition and free of defects (rust, nicks, dings, contamination and so on). Wipe the seal installation tool clean and make sure that the seal installation tool has been dried completely and is free of oil.
Attach pilot (1) to the face of the crankshaft using three cap screws (2) .
Inspect the new crankshaft seal for presence of gouge, localized surface protrusion, burr, bending, warping, or presence of oil. If the seal is defective, discard the seal.
Install the seal on pilot (1) .
Install driver (4) over pilot (1). Mark the 12 o'clock position of the driver.
Attach driver (4) to pilot (1) using one bearing (5) and one nut (6) .
Tighten nut (6) until driver (4) contacts the edge of the pilot skirt in order to drive the seal into position.
Loosen nut (6) .
Position drive (4) 180 degrees from the previous position.
Tighten nut (6) again until driver (4) contacts the edge of the pilot skirt in order to drive the seal into position.
Remove nut (6), bearing (5), driver (4), cap screws (2), and pilot (1) .
