Wastegate Improvements
1. Disconnect the 9J2609 Hose Assembly from the outside of the cab at the "No. 2" port on the cab bulkhead (Illustration 1). Follow the Hose Assembly back to the 3E3510 Manifold removing the 4K8894 Clips from the Water Manifolds above Cylinders 12, 14 and 16. Disconnect the 9J2609 Hose Assembly and remove the 7J4026 Elbow and from the 3E3510 Manifold. (Illustration 2)2. Disconnect the 1215821 Wastegate Supply Hose Assembly and remove the 0307947 Elbow. Disconnect the 1094591 Solenoid from the Wiring Harness. Remove the plug from the unmarked port. Re-install the Plug with a new 3J1907 Seal into the port marked "P", lubricate the seal with glycerin prior to installation. (Illustration 2)3. Loosen the 3E3510 Manifold from the Turbo Support Frame. Flip the 3E3510 Manifold over so that the part number faces the Turbo Support Frame. Rotate the Manifold 90 degrees clockwise so that the Solenoid is nearly vertical. Bolt the 3E3510 Manifold to using the existing hardware (Illustration 3). If the engine has more than 500 hours, install a new 1094591 Solenoid to insure proper operation. Re-connect the Solenoid to the Wiring Harness and use a 9X6772 Strap to secure the wires to the 4P7581 Clip.4. Install a 2R6806 Connector with a 3J1907 Seal into port "E" on the 3E3510 Manifold, lubricate the seal with glycerin prior to installation. Re-connect the 1215821 Wastegate Supply Hose Assembly.5. Remove the 8M2665 Breather Assembly from the top of the Wastegate and install a 5M6214 Plug. Remove the 4 - 3E8018 Locknuts that hold the Wastegate in place. Lubricate the threads of the studs and install the 4 - 2N2766 Locknuts, keeping the existing 5M2894 Washers. Tighten to a torque of 35 N m. 6. Install a 0307942 Elbow with a 3J1907 Seal into the unmarked port on the 3E3510 Manifold, lubricate the seal with glycerin prior to installation. Connect the 0350519 Hose Assembly to the 0307942 Elbow. Secure the Hose Assembly to the Water Manifolds above Cylinders 12, 14 and 16 using the 3 - 3S8664 Clips and the existing 0S0509 Bolts and 5M2894 Washers (Illustration 4).7. Install the 5T9355 Bracket to the Turbo Support Frame above cylinder 16 using the 0S1585 Bolt, 7D1649 Washer and, 1F7958 Nut (Illustration 4). Orient the Bracket 30 degrees counterclockwise (toward the rear of the engine) and secure. Install the 2M1908 Fitting to the 5T9355 Bracket and secure.8. Install the 8L3282 Connector to the outboard side of the 2M1908 Fitting. Connect the 0350519 Hose Assembly to the 8L3282 Connector.9. Connect the 6J7777 Hose Assembly to the inboard side of the 2M1908 Fitting on the 5T9355 Bracket.
