5     6     1K-6870     Locknuts    The new 8I-1629 Guard As replaces the former 232-0393 Guard As in the 8I-1628 Elevator Guard Gp. The former guard assembly has been cancelled. Refer to Table 1 for the complete list of parts that replaced the former guard assembly.The new 8I-1629 Guard As is a direct replacement for the former guard assembly. The new guard assembly is adaptable back to the beginning of production for the machines. The new guard assembly became effective in production with the machine DBC397-UP.Use the following procedure in order to install the new 8I-1629 Guard As .
Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground. Engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving.

Attach a suitable lifting device onto guard assembly (6). The weight of the guard assembly is approximately 75 kg (165 lb).
Remove the mounting hardware (7) and remove the guard assembly (6). Discard the mounting hardware.

Attach a suitable lifting device onto guard assembly (1). The weight of the guard assembly is approximately 75 kg (165 lb).
Position the guard assembly (1). By using four bolts (3), eight hard washers (4) and four locknuts (5), install the two tubes (2). Install the remaining hardware.
