Removal Procedure
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This action helps prevent fluid loss, and helps keep contaminants from entering the system.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, thoroughly clean the exterior of the components to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Disconnect harness assembly (2). Remove bolts (3) and lockup clutch and solenoid valve (1).

Remove O-ring seal (4).

Remove adapter (5) and the O-ring seal. Remove nut (6), the washer, and coil assembly (7). Installation Procedure

Install coil assembly (7), the washer, and nut (6). Tighten nut (6) to a torque of 13 1.5 N m (115 13 lb in).
Install the O-ring seal and adapter (5). Tighten adapter (5) to a torque of 14 4 N m (124 35 lb in).

Install O-ring seal (4).

Install lockup clutch and solenoid valve (1) and bolts (3). Connect harness assembly (2).
