(1) Clean the contact surfaces of the thrust washers and the differential case with 138-8440 Component Cleaner prior to assembly.Note: Make sure that all contact surfaces of the thrust washers and the differential case are clean and dry prior to assembly. Assemble the thrust washers with the grooved side of the thrust washer against the gear. (2) Apply 4C-9507 Retaining Compound to the contact surface of the differential case prior to installing the thrust washers. (3) Apply 4C-9507 Retaining Compound to the threads prior to installing the screws. Apply 4C-9507 Retaining Compound to the underside of the screw heads prior to installing the screws.
