The pump for the secondary steering system is a gear pump. The gear pump (1) rotates clockwise when you look at the pump from the two openings. The left opening (2) is the outlet. The right opening (3) is the inlet.

The pump is driven by a 24 volt electric motor. The electric motor (4) rotates clockwise when you look at the motor from the drive (5). The electric motor is sealed to moisture and dust.

The secondary steering pump (1) and the electric motor (4) are beneath the hydraulic oil tank (6). Gravity causes the oil to flow from the tank through the hydraulic line (7) to the pump inlet. The pump activates. The oil moves around the gears and flows out of the outlet. The oil flows through the relief valve (8) and oil line (9). Then, the oil flows through the check valve (10). The check valve (11) blocks the oil's flow. The oil flows into the metering pump (12).
