Insulation testing the internal Inverter DC power bus - this test result is 1.5 megohms resistance to ground
While observing the resistance value on the tester display, test the Power Inverter DC bus positive circuit at the maximum allowable 1000 volt setting. Do not test the resistance at a setting that is greater than 1000 volts.
Move the positive tester probe of the insulation tester to the ground strap for the Power Inverter.
Move the negative tester probe of the insulation tester and connect to the negative (-) contact B of the inverter connector.
Verify that the negative tester probe of the insulation tester is connected to negative (-) contact B of the Power Inverter connector. Verify that the positive tester probe of the insulation tester is connected to the ground strap of Power Inverter.
While observing the resistance value on the tester display, test the Power Inverter DC bus negative circuit at the maximum allowable 1000 volt setting. Do not test the resistance at a setting of greater than 1000 volts..Expected Result:Both of the test resistance readings on the DC bus contacts are greater than 500 kohms (500,000 ohms).Results:
OK - The insulation tests for the positive side of the internal DC bus and the negative side of the internal DC bus both measured the resistance at greater than 500 kohms (500,000 ohms). This is an indication that the internal DC bus components in the Power Inverter are most likely not causing the ground fault condition. Remove the tester probes and proceed to Test Step 9.
NOT OK - One or both of the insulation tests for the positive side of the internal DC bus and the negative side of the internal DC bus measured the resistance close to 500 kohms (500,000 ohms) or less. This is an indication that the internal DC bus components in the Power Inverter could be causing the ground fault condition.Repair: Repeat this insulation test of the Power Inverter DC Power Bus contacts. Use the insulation tester to perform this test step again in order to confirm the result of the initial insulation tests. Follow the instructions carefully in order to avoid damage to the Power Inverter that can be caused by not connecting the insulation tester probes properly.If the result of the second insulation test on the DC bus contacts for the Power Inverter result in a poor resistance measurement again, call the Dealer Solutions Network (DSN). Indicate the steps that have been taken to find the cause of the ground fault and the results that were observed. DSN personnel will give instructions on the actions that must be taken to resolve this problem.STOPTest Step 9. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE GROUND FAULT EVENT
Inspect the cable conductor connectors for the back shell connectors that are disconnected from the APC and the other system components. Ensure that the contacts of the mating connectors are clean, dry and free of any form of contamination. Reconnect and tighten all of the disconnected back shell connectors.
