Use the following procedure to improve the strength of the plate. This procedure will add four additional mounting points to the existing side radar boxes on each side of the machine.Parts Required
Refer to Table 2 for the parts that are required to perform the repair.

Disconnect the medium range radar connectors from the system harness.
Remove the four bolts that secure the right and left side radar boxes to the machine. Remove the radar boxes from the machine.
Disassemble the side radar boxes.

(1) Screws
Remove the front cover by removing the six screws (1). Set the front cover and plastic covers aside.

Remove the two screws that hold the center assembly in place. Set the center assembly aside.
Remove the four bolts (2) from the radar assembly. Set the radar assembly to the side.

Radar assembly set aside
Inspect the mounting plate on the back of the radar box. If cracks are present repair the cracks by welding. Grind the welds flush with plate.

Dimensions for the holes
Lay out the four holes according to the dimensions that are provided in Illustration 6.
Drill four 13 mm (0.51 inch) holes through the plate and box.
Secure the four 9R-3845 Bosses to the box with the 160-8746 Bolts and two 5P-1076 Hard Washers .
Remove the paint and oil from the surface of the weld mount on the machine in preparation for welding.
Secure the radar box to the weld mount on the machine with the four bolts and washers that were previously removed.
Weld the 9R-3845 Bosses to the weld mount on the side of the machine.
Remove the eight bolts from the radar boxes and paint the newly installed bosses and weld mount.
Use the eight bolts to secure the box to the weld mount.

(2) Bolts
Reassemble the side radar boxes.
Place the radar assembly in the radar box. Route the radar harness connectors through the holes on the side of the box and insert grommets. Then install the four bolts (2) that were previously removed to secure the radar assembly.
Place the center assembly across the center of the radar box. Secure the center assembly with the two screws that were previously removed.
Carefully place the plastic covers and the front cover over the box. Secure the covers with the six screws that were previously removed.
Connect the radar harness connection to the system harness connectors. Ensure that the proper connections are made. The top radar connects to the system connector that is labeled "top". The bottom radar connects to the system connector that is labeled "bottom".
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position. Verify that the system is functioning and no false detections are observed on the display. Refer to Systems Operation, Troubleshooting, Testing and Adjusting, KENR8668 to calibrate the system.
