Personal injury can result if the machine moves while testing the parking brake.If the machine begins to move during the test, reduce the engine speed immediately and apply the service brakes.
Test the brakes on a dry, level surface. Make sure that the area around the machine is clear. Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel.Note: Make sure that the steering frame lock is in the STORED position. Fasten the seat belt before you test the parking brake.
Engage the parking brake.
Start the engine. The parking brake indicator will turn on.
Raise the bucket or the work tool slightly.
With the parking brake in the ENGAGED position, move the transmission control to the THIRD SPEED FORWARD position.
Gradually increase the engine speed to high idle. The machine should not move.
Reduce the engine speed to low idle. Move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL position.
Lower the bucket or the work tool to the ground. Stop the engine.Note: If the machine moved during the test, inspect the parking brake for wear or for damage. Make any necessary repairs before you return the machine to operation.
