Maintenance And Lubrication Procedure For 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly
1. Position the steering wheel in the straight ahead position.2. Install the pin into the steering frame lock link in order to lock the frames.
Illustration 1.(1) Nut.(2) Bolt. (3) 130-1246 Pilot Valve.(4) 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly.3. Remove nut (1) and bolt (2) from the lower end of 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly (4).
Illustration 2. (4) 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly.(5) 112-9716 Lever.(6) Clamp bolt.4. Remove clamp bolt (6). Remove 112-9716 Lever (5) and 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly (4), as a single unit, from the keyed steering shaft.5. Remove 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly (4) from the machine.

View A-A. (7) U-joint grease fitting.6. Lubricate the two U-joints at fittings (7) with 5P-0960 Multipurpose Lithium Grease NLGI Grade 2-MPC. Lubricate the U-joint every 2000 hours. Ensure that the steering shaft is in the fully collapsed position when lubricating the slip joint.7. Lubricate the slip joint at fitting (8) with 5P-0960 Multipurpose Lithium Grease NLGI Grade 2-MPC. Lubricate the slip joint every 2000 hours. Apply grease to the slip joint at fitting (8) until grease is seen exiting vent hole (9). If the steering shaft is not fully collapsed when lubricating the slip joint, over greasing can occur and cause the following: * Installation of the steering shaft assembly onto the machine can be difficult if grease prevents the steering shaft from collapsing to the required installation length.* Steering can become stiff.* Internal components can become damaged if excess grease is forced out of the shaft at a high rate when steering the machine.* Excess grease can accumulate between the steering shaft and the plastic shield. This would cause drag between the steering shaft and the plastic shield.
Illustration 5.(5) 112-9716 Lever.(6) Clamp bolt.(A) 6.0 mm (.236 in).8. Position the steering shaft assembly in place on the machine. Install 112-9716 Lever (5) and 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly on the keyed steering shaft, leaving gap (A). Install clamp bolt (6). Failure to hold dimension (A) at installation will cause wandering and inconsistent steering.9. The bottom yoke of steering shaft (4) and the shaft of 130-1246 Pilot Valve (3) must be centered, in the straight ahead position. Tighten bolt (2) to a torque of 55 10 N m (40.4 7.4 lb ft).
