Installing Conveyor Sleeves Onto Forks

Secure conveyor sleeve with suitable rigging and lifting device. Each Sleeve weighs 130 kg (286.60 lb)

Remove M12 retaining bolts from each conveyor sleeve.

Move conveyor sleeve in front of the fork tines.

Lay conveyor sleeve onto floor in front of fork tines and remove rigging device.Note: Repeat steps 1 - 4 for both sides.
Carefully drive forks into sleeves.

Secure sleeves to fork mast. Tuck excess chain into open channel on top side of sleeves.

Remove mounting pins from mast.

Store mounting pin hardware in work box if present on machine.
Repeat steps 1 - 8 in reverse to remove and store the conveyor sleeves.

The standard sleeve tip orientation provides a rubber bumper for use when loading and unloading. The sleeves arrive in this orientation. The right image shows an exploded view of the tips and retaining pins.

Supplemental restraint (chains or straps) will be used to secure cargo to the forklift mast frame when using roller tines to load/offload or transport pallets.
Unstable or irregular shaped objects (lacking perfect symmetry, evenness, or balance, e.g. "flat") will be secured to the forklift mast frame (straps or chains may be used) before being raised, lowered, or moved. Place large irregularly shaped objects on pallets for stability before transporting, when possible.
Secure pallets to the forklift prior to movement when loading/off loading/transporting pallets on forklift with roller tines, when pallets are top/side heavy, and when snow or ice may have accumulated between the forklift tines and the pallet.
Secure all objects of irregular shape, including aircraft engines, to the forklift mast frame before being raised, lowered, or moved. Place large irregularly shaped objects on pallets for stability before transporting. Note: Ensure protruding engine parts (afterburners, engine blades, etc.) are not damaged during transport.
Secure non-unitized warehouse type skids or individual containers of explosives to material handling equipment (including forklifts) to prevent movement (AFMAN 91-201, Paragraph 8.28.8) (http://static.e-publishing.af.mil/production/1/af_se/publication /afman91-201/afman91-201.pdf). Positively secure together/unitize stacked explosives prior to movement. When forklifts or K-Loaders are used to transport explosives over-the-road or outside of the immediate work area, ensure the requirements of AFMAN 91-201, Section 8G (two fire extinguishers, DOT placards and wheel chocks) are followed.
