Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the parts and installation information required to install a valve that would allow the operator to quickly change the control pattern for stick, boom, and bucket to any of four control patterns to the excavators listed above. The patterns are SAE, SCM, MHI and Kobelco.Customers who use Caterpillar excavators with a fleet of other manufacturers machines, will benefit from this valve installation.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you have read and understood the information contained within.Reference: Parts Manual, Operation and Maintenance Manual, and Service Manual.Parts Needed

Sections B-B and C-C.1. Install 4I3791 Bracket Assembly (19) onto the tapped holes located on the inner face of the swing frame left boom tower plate. Use four 8T4192 Bolts (17) and four 8T4223 Washers (18) to secure bracket assembly (19) in place.2. Install 856455 Valve Gp. (20) to bracket assembly (19) with four bolts (17) and four washers (18).
Port locations on front and rear view of valve.3. Install 6V8724 Elbow (4), 3J1907 Seal (5), and 6V8397 Seal (6) into Ports B and H of valve group (20).4. Install 6V9001 Elbow (8), 3J1907 Seal (5), and 6V8397 Seal (6) into Ports 1 thru 8 and A, C, D, E, F, and G of valve group (20).5. Remove the cover just below the operators's seat on the swing frame to access the coupler bank.6. Disconnect the existing eight hoses one at a time from the rear side of the coupler bank unions and connect them to the front side of valve group (20) as follows:7. Connect the hose from coupler R1 (Orange) to Port 1 of valve (20).8. Connect the hose from coupler R2 (White) to Port 2 of valve (20).9. Connect the hose from coupler R3 (Green) to Port 3 of valve (20).10. Connect the hose from coupler R4 (Purple) to Port 4 of valve (20).11. Connect the hose from coupler L1 (Red) to Port 5 of valve (20).12. Connect the hose from coupler L2 (Yellow) to Port 6 of valve (20).13. Connect the hose from coupler L3 (Blue) to Port 7 of valve (20).14. Connect the hose from coupler L4 (Brown) to Port 8 of valve (20).
