Rework Procedure
If the hydraulic oil cooler is cracked and leaking, replace the oil cooler with a new 281-3514 Hydraulic Oil Cooler Core As (3). In order to protect oil cooler (3) against tool return line pressure peaks in aggressive applications, it is recommended to use 335-0538 Hydraulic Accumulator Gp (4). Insert accumulator (4) in the tool return line, prior to hydraulic oil cooler (3) inlet.Refer to Illustration 1 for the list of parts required to install accumulator (4).

Make sure accumulator (4) is properly changed with dry nitrogen to 260 kPa (40 psi).

Remove 9S-4183 Plug from the slow return to the oil cooler bypass manifold. Refer to Illustration 2.Note: Port location may vary depending on machine configuration.

Connect hose (2) to port (C) by using adapter (10), seal (6), and seal (8) .
Route hose (2) to the battery compartment where accumulator (4) will be installed.
Install accumulator support (5) by drilling two holes with a diameter of 13.5 mm (0.5 inch) on the lower plate of the battery compartment.
Secure support (5) to the lower plate using bolts (13), washers (14), and nuts (15) .

Attach accumulator (4) to support (5) using u-bolts (11). Secure u-bolts (11) with nuts (12) and washers (16). Refer to Illustrations 4 and 5 for the completed battery compartment installation.
Connect hose (2) to elbow (9). Use seal (7) and seal (8) .
Attach elbow (9) to accumulator (4) using adapter (1) and seal (6) .
