There are two standard methods for steering the machine. The first method is by using proportional steering joystick (1) on the left armrest.The speed of articulation will match the movement of the joystick. When the joystick is moved back to the center position, articulation of the machine will stop. The joystick must be moved in the opposite direction in order to straighten the machine.

Optional Left Hand ControlThe second method of steering is by using buttons (2) and (3) on the left hand control. Press button (2) in order to steer the machine to the left. Press button (3) in order to steer the machine to the right.The buttons are useful while you are processing trees in the forest. The buttons allow you to steer the machine without removing your hand from the hand control.The buttons will articulate the machine at a constant speed. The buttons are momentary buttons. When the buttons are released, the articulation of the machine will stop.Note: With the IQANtalk program, the speed of articulation for the buttons can be adjusted separately from the speed of articulation for the joystick. For more smooth articulation, the speed for the buttons is usually adjusted to a slower setting than the speed for the joystick.Steering Wheel (If Equipped)
Your machine may be equipped with the provision for a steering wheel. The steering wheel steers the machine with a hand metering unit (HMU) that is located under the cab. The steering wheel is used for roading purposes only.

The steering wheel is placed in the hole of the cab floor. The end of the steering shaft is splined in order to match the splines in the HMU.

A ball valve must be opened in order to use the steering wheel. The ball valve is located under the cab near the cab tilt pump on the left side of the machine.Note: The other methods of steering are still available for use when the steering wheel is used.
